You can’t hide this monster mistake

Thousands of netizens are talking up a plan to “Storm Loch Ness,” evidently inspired by the two million who expressed interest in a raid to squeeze secrets out of Area 51 in the US. Today “Shoulda Spelled My Beans” salutes time.com for this gem of a headline blooper written on the March of the Moment beat:

time.com headline screenshot: "...'Nessie Can't Hie From Us All"

Frankly, we weren’t sure but what “hie” was one of those lovely Scottish shortened variations of English you see or hear on a Burns Night video or in an Internet exchange between Scots, but just as many an expedition to find Nessie has led to nothing definitive, dictionary checks revealed no such etymology. For the cleaned-up headline and story, hie thee here.
